Southern US Storms may bring Tornadoes
A big storm is moving across the Gulf coast states, and it might cause some serious problems until Monday. The experts at US Meteorologists say that this storm could bring heavy rain, bad weather, and trouble for people traveling.
The forecasters are warning that as this storm goes through the Southeastern states, there could be strong and severe thunderstorms in a big part of the Florida Peninsula. This means people from Jacksonville to Miami might face a risk of heavy rain and tornadoes.
While the center of the storm moves through Florida on Sunday night, there will be a lot of rain and thunderstorms spreading in the area. This might lead to flooding as many places could get 1-2 inches of rain until the weekend ends, and in some places, it could be even more if there are thunderstorms.
On Saturday, people in Florida had a nice start to the weekend, but on Sunday, the weather will change. The dry and sunny weather from the start of the weekend is going away because of a storm with a lot of moisture. In cities like Orlando and Jacksonville, the daytime temperatures will drop by 3-6 degrees Fahrenheit from Saturday to Sunday.
The experts say there might be two main times on Sunday when the storm brings intense thunderstorms. There could be storms in the morning, then a break, and more storms in the afternoon.
The winds from Alabama to South Carolina will get stronger later this weekend, with gusts reaching 25-30 mph. In strong storms, the winds in Florida might even be as fast as 50-60 mph, and in some places, it could go up to 70 mph.
Besides the strong winds, the experts are also saying that this storm might make tornadoes and waterspouts. People living along the coast of Florida need to be careful, especially about waterspouts moving onshore, which can happen suddenly.
The chance of hail in central Florida on Sunday is there, but it’s not very high. If there’s hail, it’s more likely to be small instead of big.
Rain and thunderstorms will stay until late Sunday night, making the risk of flash flooding higher. By Monday morning, the center of the storm will move away from Florida’s east coast, but it will still bring rain to some parts of Florida, Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina.
By Monday evening, the only places still affected by the storm might be the ones directly along the eastern coast of Florida. However, any remaining showers on Monday evening will probably be light. The strong winds will stick around in the Southeast, especially from the Carolinas to eastern Florida.
By Tuesday, the weather will get better as high pressure returns to the Mississippi and Tennessee Valleys. This will bring warmer weather and lots of sunshine. There might be a few showers and clouds in southeastern Florida on Tuesday, but most of the state will have drier conditions compared to the end of the weekend.
The Southeast will stay dry into the late week, but a cold front could bring more rain to the Gulf Coast states by late Thursday.
