Alabama heavy Rain Inundates
Throughout much of this week, the Southeast has been drenched in torrential rain, causing significant flooding worries. Flooding in Alabama became fatal on Wednesday night.
Officials with the Marshall County Coroner’s Office reported early Thursday that two people died near Arab, roughly 60 miles northeast of Birmingham, as a consequence of flash flooding. A 4-year-old daughter was one of the fatalities, whose body was discovered late Wednesday. An 18-year-old woman’s body was discovered at 7 a.m. local time on Thursday.

The Gulf of Mexico has been sending moisture north and the Atlantic Ocean has been sending moisture west. Rainfall has been aided by the slow-moving and repeated nature of the rain, as well as two zones of tropical moisture.
“On Thursday, showers and thunderstorms with the potential for torrential rain and floods will move into the southern Appalachians, including parts of northern Georgia,” Babinski warned.
