Megi Tropical Storm

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the Low-Pressure Area (LPA) formerly Tropical Cyclone (TC) MEGI (Agaton) has dissipated as of 1000 HRS UTC+7 on April 13, 2022.

Over Quezon, Bicol Region, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Visayas, however, sporadic rainshowers are expected.
Coastal Waters-Related Hazards Swells from Typhoon “MALAKAS” will deliver rough seas (2.8 to 3.7 m) to the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon, as well as the eastern seaboards of Visayas and Mindanao, over the next 24 hours. Most seacraft may be at risk in these conditions. Small boat operators are recommended to stay in port or seek shelter, while larger vessel operators are encouraged to use caution when venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigating in these conditions. This is the final weather advisory as a result of this development.

The LPA east of Eastern Samar had turned into a Tropical Depression on April 9th (TD). The Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) number one was issued across the provinces of Eastern Visayas and Mindanao’s northeastern region. The TD travelled along Eastern Visayas’ eastern coast.

At 0400 HRS UTC+7 on 10 April, the TD became a Tropical Storm (TS) as it moved west northwestward across the coastal seas of Guiuan, Eastern Samar. The southern area of Eastern Samar, the extreme southern region of Samar, and the northern portion of the Dinagat Islands were all covered by TCWS no. 2. The TS made ashore at 0630 HRS UTC+7 on Calicoan Island, Guiuan, Eastern Samar, and maintained its power while slowly moving westward.

On the 12th of April, the TD continued to meander over the Samar-Leyte area before weakening into an LPA and lifting all hoisted TCWS at 2100 HRS UTC+7.
