For nearly a week, Kuwait, Iran, and other nations have been subjected to unbearably severe heat, much above what the region generally experiences at this time of year. The Middle Eastern countries of Kuwait, Iraq, and Iran are suffering from a terrible heat wave that has lasted nearly a week, with suffocating temperatures far above 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

Temperatures in Jahra, Kuwait, reached 127 degrees on Wednesday, according to weather forecasters  analysts, although temperatures in excess of 120 degrees have been maintained for the preceding six days. Sulaibiya, a neighbouring city, reached a high of 125 degrees on Thursday, with no sign of relief in sight.

Over the past four days, temperatures at the Kuwait airport, which is closer to the Persian Gulf, have been about 120 degrees, which is still substantially higher than the average 110 degrees for this time of year. According to  Meteorologists, the city of Dammam in Saudi Arabia and Ahvaz in Iran both experienced highs of 122 degrees. Residents in Baghdad, Iraq, have been dealing with temperatures as high as 115 degrees, and triple-digit temperatures are expected to be the norm for the rest of the week.

These extreme temperatures are particularly difficult on Iraqis, who have had to battle with eight sandstorms in a row this spring, which shut down airports and forced many to use respirators.
The Indian monsoon season, which generally spans from June to September, has begun with this current hot wave.

“The Southwest monsoon provides for almost 70% of India’s total yearly rainfall,” Meteorologist said.  “It also enhances electricity output while replenishing reservoirs and groundwater for farming.”

The season begins with a considerable warming of the land mass around India, including the Middle East, forming a low-pressure zone. As a result of the drop in pressure, wind from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal blows in, forming clouds.
