Flood Warning in Parkersburg WV–OH
The National Weather Service (NWS) has given a Flood Warning for Parkersburg, WV-OH Region, United States on January 29, 2024, at 09:47:00 GMT. A Flood Warning is when they tell us that a flood is about to happen or is happening right now. There are no big towns in the areas they’re warning about. Here’s more information:
WHAT… There’s a big problem with flooding in the streams because there’s been a lot of rain.
WHERE… Some places in southeast Ohio, like Athens, Meigs, Morgan, and Washington counties, are having issues. Also, in northern West Virginia, mainly in Pleasants county.
WHEN… This flood warning is in place until 7:00 PM EST on Monday.
IMPACTS… The flooding is causing problems in rivers, creeks, streams, and areas that are usually lower down. Some streams are getting higher because of all the rain from before, while others have already reached their highest point and are starting to go down.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
At 4:45 AM EST, the reports from the measuring device (gauge) showed that there’s flooding in the rivers and bigger streams. This includes the Little Muskingum River, Duck Creek, and the Shade River.
Even though it’s going to keep flooding, they don’t expect more rain to make it worse.
Some places that will have flooding include Marietta, Belpre, Beverly, Coolville, Chesterhill, Forked Run State Park, Williamstown, New Haven, Belmont, Tuppers Plains, Chester, Syracuse, Lowell, Stockport, Fleming, Blennerhassett, Little Hocking, Bartlett, Devola, and Willow Island.
