According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), cyclone “Gulab” would make landfall around midnight around the shores of north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha. Andhra Pradesh and Odisha’s coastal districts have been placed on high alert.
The cyclonic storm is predicted to reach landfall between Gopalpur in Odisha and Kalingapatanam in Andhra Pradesh, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Wind gusts of up to 95 kmph are expected.

According to an IMD update as of 8:30 a.m. today, Cyclone ‘Gulab,’ named by Pakistan, was around 180 km east-southeast of Gopalpur in Odisha and 240 km east of Kalingapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.
The water will be rough to extremely severe for the next three days, and fishermen in Odisha, West Bengal, and Andhra Pradesh have been advised not to venture into the east-central and adjacent northeast Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea, according to news agency PTI.

Special Relief Commissioner PK Jena said that 42 teams of the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) and 24 squads of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), as well as 102 teams of fire fighters, have been dispatched to the seven districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, and Kandhamal.
Rain has started falling in Odisha’s southern and coastal districts this morning, with Cyclone Gulab expected to hit the state around tonight, according to the India Meteorological Department.
