Strongest Tropical Cyclone 2022  Recent world climate News

The most potent tropical cyclone to form on Earth so far this year, Typhoon Hinnamnor, continued to be a formidable storm on Wednesday despite reducing its wind speed as it approached Japan’s Ryukyu Islands.

The Joint Typhoon Warning Center reduced the powerful storm on Wednesday night from a super typhoon to a typhoon, but Hinnamnor was still forecast to get stronger over the next few days. “Violent typhoon” was how the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) categorized Hinnamnor.

According to the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale, the typhoon’s sustained winds of 115 mph (185 km/h) are equivalent to a Category 4 major hurricane in the Atlantic and East Pacific basins. An estimated 165 mph (265 km/h) in wind gusts. The storm’s eye was clearly seen in satellite photos.

Hinnamnor became the strongest tropical system in 2022 on Tuesday afternoon local time when its central pressure dropped to 920 mb (27.16 inches of mercury). Previously, Intense Tropical Cyclone Batsirai, which had a core pressure of 934 mb, was the year’s strongest tropical system (27.42 inches of mercury).

In February, Batsirai crossed the southwest Indian Ocean before unleashing its deadly winds on Madagascar, killing at least 21 people.

As of Tuesday, the majority of Hinnamnor’s effects were still far from the ground because the system was churning over the vast Pacific Ocean.

However, as the typhoon’s eye passed near Kitadaito-son, Okinawa, a small island in the Pacific, on Tuesday night, wind gusts of up to 108 mph were measured there.

Hinnamnor is anticipated to retain its intensity and possibly even get stronger through the middle of the week due to warm ocean waters and little wind shear in its path. On the Saffir-Simpson Storm Wind Scale, Meteorologists predict that Hinnamnor might become a Category 5 hurricane on Thursday.

Throughout the rest of the week, Hinnamnor is probably going to go in a unique direction.

Typhoon Hinnamnor, according to International Forecaster and  Meteorologist , “will continue to travel to the west into Thursday morning, local time, before turning southwest Thursday afternoon, and then stalling through Friday.”
