Weather Rollercoaster in Eastern US
After a time of dry and nice weather, experts in the US are warning that a big storm is coming to the East. This storm will bring rain, chances of snow, and big changes in temperature. The weather people in the US say that temperatures will go up this week in the middle and eastern parts of the country. But, there’s another storm coming soon.
During the weekend, the highest temperatures were between 20 and 30 degrees Fahrenheit. But, by the middle of the week, they will go up to 40 and 50 degrees Fahrenheit. The skies will be a bit sunny or mostly sunny, which means there will be a lot of sun. This makes it a bit warm for February.
Any snow that was left from the weekend will melt fast in the next few days. At night, it will still be cold enough for the melted snow to freeze again, which can make the ground slippery in the morning. It will still be nice enough in places like Ohio and the middle-east of the US for people to start getting their gardens ready for spring or even go outside and play. Many people will be happy about the warmer weather after the cold weekend.
But, by Wednesday or Thursday, it might get windy from the Mississippi Valley to the northeast of the country as the next storm gets close. Later in the week, a big storm will form over the Plains and bring rain to Ohio and the northeast. There might also be thunderstorms in places like Tennessee. The southern part of the storm will bring rain to the mid-Atlantic states.
“Rain might be heavy, and there might be thunderstorms even in Ohio. Because of the melting snow, there might be some areas with lots of water, especially in low places,” said a weather expert. Between Thursday and Friday, some places might get 1 to 1.5 inches of rain. Places like New York and Vermont might get some snow, especially in the mountains. It will be cold enough for some snow to fall in places like the Catskills and the Adirondacks, which might make the roads slippery.
The storm will move quickly through the northeast on Friday. There might be some snow, especially in the mountains, and rain in southern New England. At night on Friday, it might be cold enough for snow or a mix of snow and rain in places like New York and Pennsylvania. After the warmer weather in the middle of the week, it will get cold again over the weekend. The cold air from Canada will bring temperatures down by 5 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit.
“There might be some problems with frozen water on the ground, which can make it slippery,” said the expert.
On Friday and Saturday, it might be windy from the Great Lakes to the mid-Atlantic states, and there might be some snow showers. Because of the wind, it might feel colder than it really is. But, the cold weather won’t last long. By the beginning of next week, it will get warm again in the eastern US. In places like Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, temperatures might go up to the 50s and 60s.
